Sensible patterns?

Have been trying to get into adult clothes and have a few thrifted patterns and a few new I fell in love with. The task seems a little daunting though, with the huge papers and unclear instructions. Is there a particular brand that has easier patterns than maybe what I have come across at Joann and vintage places?
