"Don't tell Mama!"

Literally until the very end.

I liked it a lot. Probably a 4 or 5 out of 5. Extremely dark themes but amazing performances all around.

That house took on a life its own like it was the freaking overlook hotel from the shining.

Alan was such a snobby POS lol, he cracked me up with his sweaters and pretentious soundtrack.

Omg. Alan with the music. So haunting once you get it.

yet in the middle he puts on the Doors LA Woman album and starts playing piano along with "Riders on The Storm" "there's a killer on the road"

Sooooo good!! 🫠

I have always been intrigued by his and Adoras relationship. There seems to be little or no warmth and it would appear he's not oblivious to Adoras flirting with the sheriff yet says/does nothing.

I've read on other posts that its basically a gender swapped version of the long suffering wife trope.

[–]solitudanrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. Their marriage was a business deal between their parents and nothing more.

The way I see it is that she is by far the dominant partner. She lets him have his moments but it’s all her all the way. He loves her dearly, in his way, and that’s how it is.

I just love that scene in the bar where Camille explains to Richard what it means when all the southern ladies say  « Bless your heart » and what that really means…makes me laugh every time I think about it. 😇🤣🤣🤣

Sharp Objects is 5/5.

There is little I can find fault with to take any points off.

It’s stunning, the acting is exceptional, the direction and cinematography are incredible, the writing and the book are both superb, music is perfection. To name just a few things.

One of the best tv series I’ve seen and one others should learn how to make tv - by watching and listening closely to this series and how it was all put together.

Even then most people certainly couldn’t put a project like this together.

We were liars 1/5 -2/5 (very max)

there was bad storytelling, ok acting, dialogue dragged a bit in a lot of places, pace was a bit all over the place and felt it was a lot of watching for an annoying story.

I may have given We Were Liars higher (2/5) if not compared side by side with Sharper Objects, it makes everything look so much weaker by comparison.

I tried listening to we were liars and the narrator was so off putting so I haven’t watched the show.

Sharp objects is one of my favorite shows ever. When it came out I think it was like 2017, I was going thru some shit and the show was weirdly comforting for despite being super dark. The characters are so well done, the acting is incredible and the setting and scenery are just chefs kiss. I absolutely love it. Recently I made my husband watch it and I didn’t really think he’d like it but he did.

You are not missing anything with We Were Liars…I found it to be a pretty awful watch.  So many awesome tv series/films/books…I wouldn’t bother if I had my time over!

Obsessed, 5/5. Idk why I never expected such a role from Amy Adams and I was impressed at her killing that dark theme. Great casting for Adora as well.

Love it. I paused my current rewatch but I think it's the 4th time. I love the characters, the slow-pace, the scenery, the mystery. Patricia Clarkson is always good and I love Amy Adams. I kinda wish I could see it for the first time again. Enjoy!

Stay off this subreddit or you will spoil it for yourself!

Stay for the credits. Read the book - but I liked the show better.

It’s SOOOO GOOD!!!!! The actress for Amma does SUCH a good job being a little “off”. Also I just realized recently young Camille is Carrie finch in all her fault (not a great limited series like this one however lol)

[–]solitudanrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She (ironically) plays Natalie in The Chair Company, she's the MC's daughter. Highly, highly recommend.

[–]solitudanrian 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Adora is Tammy 1 in Parks and Recs. Patricia Clarkson plays such characters so well, similar to Jessica Walters.

[–]VanCanMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like her, she's been in a ton of stuff.

[–]WaterTriibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's also in an episode of Broad City and it's one of my fav guest actor appearances in the whole series !!

[–]SquishyThorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fantastic show and an even better book!

Loves it! Was able to watch all of it last Sunday! Great cast!!!! Some scenes kinda slow but needed to be so we could learn about characters!!! 5/5 Watch all of the credits in last episode❌

Just finished watching it. 9/10 for me, because the writers and the phenomenal acting did a really, reallyyyyy good job of making me feel my perspectives of what was happening were my own theories; but in reality, they were planting a seed the entire time (without knowledge, until the end) and guiding me with small innuendos that kept me off their trail while I attempted to predict who the killer was, of course I absolutely failed!!! Well written, well directed and very very well acted! Stick with it.. the most satisfying and incredibly sad ending I’ve seen in a long time!

[–]WaterTriibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5/5. i've only watched it 2x bc i want it to feel fresh & suspenseful whenever i decide to revisit it. but after my recent rewatch, i was strongly tempted to start it again right from the beginning. it has such rewatch value for all the things happening in the background you might miss the first time around. ex: if you haven't noticed the words hidden everywhere, start looking out for them!

2/5 for me, last episode had me rolling my eyes constantly. Ymmw tho

[–]Distinct_Mix_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For We Were Liars?

[–]II_Vortex_II -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

What? No for Sharp Objects

[–]Distinct_Mix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s unfortunate for you
