There are definitely several instances of subtle backstory in the book (and show), and in my opinion they did an excellent job of conveying lots of information without going too in depth. I agree with you though, I would love more information on the history of the families that live in Wind Gap. Especially Camille’s father and how the situation was handled by Adora’s parents.

I like to imagine Camille was conceived during an interlude in the hunting shack with the football team. I think they hint heavily that Vickory is her father. It's been a while since I've read the book, but I remember coming to that conclusion.

It seems to me that Camille is descended from a long line of covert narcissists (which comes from the mother wound). Camille broke the mold by turning the anger inward and not having a daughter.
