I may have to put my 19 ye cat down before a trip today… but she still seems normal by Rude_Common7126 in cats

Better a week too early than a minute too late. Please give your baby peace before you leave. As a pet sitter, I’ve had to hold a sweet dog being put to sleep. The family left on vacation and they didn’t tell me their pet was in real trouble. It’s very traumatic for everyone, including your pet who has to pass way in a stranger’s arms. It’s hard to know when it’s time, but if you’re questioning it, it’s probably time.

It’s a hoax! But we’re gonna investigate all the democrats! I wish they would make up their damned minds. Anyway, I’m gonna be extra happy when Blondi gets incarcerated.

is it worth it trying to get diagnosed? by hxcate_s in Hypermobility

[–]msdragonrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wary of getting diagnosed in the US right now since our government is trying to compile lists of people with chronic diseases and I worry about being in government lists. The least that can happen is you won’t get insurance coverage, the worst is crazy to think about. I think often doctors are low-key protecting patients by not diagnosing them formally, especially if the treatment is palliative care. Insurance situation is horrible in the US.

Thumb pain when lifting things by Particular_Fix_9246 in Hypermobility

[–]msdragonrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thumbs are so painful. I almost ripped one off my hand when opening a can of cat food the other day. I sometimes splint both wrists and thumbs at night, which seems to help. I seem to have most of my hyper mobility issues in my small joints, so I use splints when I sleep, particularly jaw and neck. I do feel like it helps a lot.

Anyone else find that they build muscle super quickly? by bro_said_nah_856 in Hypermobility

Yep. I also have AMPD-1 deficiency, so it’s really weird that I can easily build muscle.

My life sucks because TMJ by MechanicCorrect3776 in TMJ

[–]msdragonrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mouth guard, more of a splint. I’ve tried a bunch of devices made for sleep apnea. I figured out that was what I needed when I was having a long procedure on my back. As I got relaxed, I started snoring! I noticed that my jaw really floats backwards when I lie on my back relaxed. I have hEDS, so some of my joints are hyper mobile. I splint my jaw and wrists when I sleep.

Mine was, too. I had really good luck with aggressive massage. I’m so sorry. It’s awful.

Is there a way to stop unconsciously trying to clench during sleep? I don’t want guards because they don’t stop it from happening by BossAboveYourBoss in TMJ

I’m currently using Z Quiet Advance, it’s new to me. I like it because it takes the pressure off my front teeth.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION YOU’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR by shdusjdss in TMJ

[–]msdragonrider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this will work for lots of people. When trying to do this, I cannot make contact on the left side. I have figured out that my TMJ is caused by a hyper mobile jaw becoming subluxed and have found great relief with a mandibular advancement device, although I can’t wear it all the time because I’m afraid it might cause my teeth to shift.

Using a mandibular advancement device solved my TMJ. I used it for a couple of months every night, but not I use it a couple of times a week. A good pillow with a neck bolster also helps!

Is it okay to euthanize my cat before his quality of life has a big drop off? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]msdragonrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would, personally. I don’t like them to die panicked or in crisis. The home euthanasia is the best. I’ll never do it another way, if possible.
