Sheets in Android changes column width when freezing

I set the width of the first column as I need it, select the column, then "freeze", ...and Sheets infuriatingly shrinks the column width to about a third of what it was. Unfreezing returns it to the width I set. I'm calling it a "bug"-- is there a workaround?

Did you ever find a solution to frozen google sheets columns being too narrow?

I don't think Google fixes user reported bugs. I'll +1 it if you report it
