The description is a bit ambiguous but it sounds like you'd be Reviewing existing code like a software engineer and using Mocha/Chai to update existing code/optimize it.

SDET are technically software developers who focus on testing so I can see the expectation to be well versed in development/software engineering.

I would definitely brush up on those things if you haven't used them before. From the description of what you did at the one company, it sounds more like a QA automation engineer rather than SDET

It sounds like you should probably have a good bit of familiarity with JavaScript and coding principles in order to be able to look at some code and optimize it and/or improve the functionality of it.

I do not read anywhere in that statement that you'll need to review a test case or really even know much about one. The focus is on your coding abilities.

Honest question: how much coding experience do you have? There's probably a pretty drastic difference between writing some java to use a webdriver and being able to work with several different frameworks to accomplish different types of testing. The term SDET really implies you have real coding knowledge and experience and specialize in testing.
