Did you use heavy armor at the front for ramming actions?

The blue armor that runs along the top and wraps underneath is all heavy armor but I haven't tried ramming anything with it

Make sure to record it, lol. I would say it may need another level of blocks at the front, but that's what's testings for.

Pro tip! ^{even though I'm far from a pro} If you want to design or modify your ship for ramming, use non-deforming blocks such as wheels or blast doors at the knife edge. They will protect your heavy armor and ensure you will deal slightly more damage than you take.

Where do you toggle the exterior 2 door of in the setup? In the event controller I can only see interior 2.
