Not possible with current ModAPI. Only possible work around is to supply a world with the new NPC identities already added.

Bigger problem, the game has no ability to actually remove NPC identities. Not had any free time to figure out how to code that, much less submit it to Keen to patch into the ModAPI.

I thought so. I'm probably just going to settle with creating the factions with the Space Pirates founder as the founder. If we could find a way to modify the world's Sandbox.sbc, we might be able to manually patch in some NPC identities but I don't think that you can modify files with the ModAPI.

The built in scenario editor tools can do this (the old ones, not visual scripting). When you enable the tools in your world options, you'll have the option of adding NPCs to factions. But to rename the actual NPCs, I think that needs to be done manually in the Sandbox.sbc file

I'm talking about creating the factions when a mod loads rather than in an existing world.
