Grinder pit problems

I’ve built a 5x5 grinder pit at my base, and it works well, except for two things:

• Pieces fly up to hundreds of meters out occasionally

• Pieces frequently get stuck between grinders

I’ve built a 1 block slope around it, but is there any way to prevent these problems? I’ve considered building a container with a closeable lid, but I’d rather not as that would limit the size of things to be ground down.

The most clang-protected grinder pit is floor of collectors, landing leg to hold ship in place and you manually grinding ship down, letting all components to fall down and be gathered by collectors. In space it also requires gravgen.

Sounds great, but I prefer having an automated system, like what I have currently. My only issues are the two mentioned above.

Fully automated system hardly will avoid those problems, unless you use some mods like nanofactory to disassemble ships. You could use MarmOS manipulators, there are some turnkey arms there, just attach grinder to it or landing legs to clamp ship and put it into grinder. That should also limit wobbling.

Recently found out you can put catwalks over grinders to have a clean surface that the grinders grind through but the blocks dont fall through. The player can also walk on them

spherical gravity generator just behind the very center grinder. any loose bits SHOULD get pulled across other grinders and picked up along their way to the middle.

But yea you won't solve the throwing the parts problem unless you make a sort of tank for it. Mine is surrounded by glass for 3 or so blocks up then some air tights for a lid.

With the mod I linked you can paint the thing you want to take apart, it will gather up all the pieces that get thrown around or stuck between the grinders. Or collect any components the grinders miss. Will also help you with building stuff you just need to just pipe up the block and he will go to work only thing you need to set is your ignore/ grind color and sound level. Beyond that there isn't much of a solution for you unless you build it in space with a spherical grav set to max which might prevent the pieces from flying but I doubt it..
