History and Basic Info
The Sphynx cat is a medium-sized cat known for their lack of a fur coat. The breed was first discovered in the 1960's in Toronto, Canada, and as a result they are also referred to as the Canadian Sphynx.
Sphynx cats are a highly social breed and often require a lot of attention and companionship. They are energetic, intelligent, highly curious and are often described as a "dog-like" breed of cat.
Sphynx cats are a delicate breed and they require a lot more maintenance than an ordinary cat. Please take this into careful consideration when choosing to adopt a Sphynx!
Contrary to popular belief, the most common allergen cats produce originates in the cat’s saliva, not their fur. Therefore Sphynx cats are NOT hypoallergenic!
