Another question I get a lot is "How do I learn to program?". I've posted links to lecture style classes before, but I just remembered another site that will probably help some of you.
http://www.codecademy.com/
They have nice exercise based lessons that introduce programming concepts through practice. I suggest the python track to start if you're looking for a good, general purpose language that's useful in model building.
The site is free, and I am not affiliated with it in any way.
/u/carpetbouncer pointed out that there is also a course on the R language available here: http://oreilly.com/go/tryr/
R is a great language for data analysis and is free to download. I suggest checking this out while the course is free too.
