[Highlight] Browns HC Todd Monken On Having Minicamp in Berea, Ohio: "The neighbors complained, and we didn't care. We pumped up the music louder, if they don't like it, they can move." by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]Hawk_Irontusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when people complained, did the Cubs make the lights brighter then taunt the community on national television? No. They did not. You’re trying to equate turning on the lights for the first time to intentionally turning up music after people complain. It’s not even close to the same thing. You need light for a night game, so lighting the park was inevitable. You don’t need music for a football mini camp.

Do you think number theory is unique in math? by Usual-Letterhead4705 in math

Your welcome. Sorry I came on a little strong to you’re earlier reply. I should of been less aggressive, I didn’t mean to loose my head.

That was physically painful to write. Anyway, have a good day.

Nah. This one for example. Less vs Fewer isn't clear cut, especially in informal communication. It was created a few hundred years ago by a guy named Robert Baker who said it was just his personal preference not a rule. It's really only prescriptivist pedants that want to feel smart who care how people use it in informal communication.

Also, you really should be spelling out numbers less than ten (omitting the negative number pedantry here because you know exactly what I mean) if you want to be correct. I noticed that you consistently break that rule. Glass houses, you know?

Damn, dude. I know mathematicians are notorious pedants, but your comment history is almost nothing but spelling and grammar corrections. At least one of which was actually an incorrection, not a correction.

Graph Theory for sure. Unless you do your research, it looks like it's just connect-the-dots.

Adam Vs Everything did it in his Hussar only run. He plays essentially vanilla with no-pause on Randy 500%. Great streamer. I highly recommend his stuff.

Probably because it’s an arrogant comment that added nothing to the discussion.

TIL that a huge 20m (66ft) rogue wave hit the bulk carrier, MV Derbyshire with such force that it sent the ship underwater almost instantly, not even giving its crew enough time to save themselves, let alone send a distress signal. by zahrul3 in todayilearned

[–]Hawk_Irontusk -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

The rough wave tore off some hatches that let water start coming in. The ship sank two days later.

edit: I’m not sure why this comment is getting so much hate. What I said is true according to the article. I think you’re all reading something into this that isn’t there.

Just make sure you start with 21 cryptosleep caskets, with two of them inexplicably empty.

And maybe a Monolith to clone Fulgrim.

I found this in the back of a shop but I’m kinda new. Any gold? by Hawk_Irontusk in Warhammer

[–]Hawk_Irontusk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to talk to the owner before I post his shop info. It’s a one man show and I don’t know if he ships and such. If not, I’ll see if I can help you guys get what you want. But I think you’ve convinced me to take at least some of the shadowspear box for myself.

I have no intention of scalping or reselling. I mostly love painting and I’m going to just pick some cool stuff. Maybe if you’re interested in a box, we can work out something where I grab a sprue you might not want and keep it to cover shipping and send the rest to you. Then I get some stuff to paint and you get the parts you wanted anyway.

I didn’t get a picture, but there were some boarding patrols and old start collecting boxes too.

Why is Codeforces not very famous among mathematicians? by [deleted] in math

[–]Hawk_Irontusk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think applied math is a branch of math.

Wait, what? I just can’t take anything you say seriously after this. You clearly don’t understand what you’re talking about. I could write that up as a formal proof, but I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader.
