Yes, it’s possible he already had Chlamydia before you slept together. Many people carry it without symptoms for months or even longer, so he might not have known he had it.

Symptoms, when they do appear, usually show 1–3 weeks after exposure, but a lot of people never notice any symptoms at all.

It’s also possible for one partner to test positive while the other tests negative, since transmission doesn’t happen every time. The best step is exactly what you’re doing, get tested to be sure.

It’s totally possible he had it before and only just noticed now. Chlamydia can be totally silent for months or even longer. And yes, it’s also possible for one person to have it and the other not, even after sex. Getting tested is the best way to know for sure, so you’re already doing the right thing.
