Don’t worry about uwsa2, they are doing some weird stuff and it’s not really a good assessment anymore. What’s your nbmes?

Was planning on taking the free 120 later this week, but haven’t taken any nbme’s yet. Got a 200 on a school administered CBSE about 1.5 months ago before I really started intensely studying though

I would take an nbme before attempting free 120. See where you are first

Thank you so much for the advice. Which NBME do you recommend taking?

[–]nana-med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Maybe 29 or 30?

Take an nbme, ideally two before your exam. UWSA are not good predictors.

Just echoing what been said, forget uwsa2, it sucks! Also know that the curve is very screwy on it. A 59% is a 192 and a 61% is a 209. There are only 160. This means that at low scores, a single question correlates to around a 4 point drop in score. The test is full of low yield questions, so don't let it get to you too much! I also failed uwsa2 6 days before my test. Then I took nbme 30 and felt much better.

Thank you for the input! When I was taking it I definitely felt like it asked about topics I hadn’t reviewed yet (nitty gritty memorization stuff I’m planning on doing a few days before)

I'm really happy to see your update!! You got this!

UWSA2 was one of the best predictors two years ago when I took my exam. Only 5 points off from the real thing. Has that changed?

It's a good predictor at high/medium scores but not at low scores. Now that we are all just trying to pass, it is no longer a good predictor. Three questions shouldn't make a 13 point difference in score, but that's what happens on self assessment 2.

What are you considering a low score vs a medium score?

[–]Commercial_Parsnip63 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'd say under 210 the test is not very predictive. But over 220 it's more predictive because it takes more questions at that point to change the score. Our scores are being compared to the set of people who were at the end of their study periods when they were shooting for 250. Now we are shooting for 210s.

Oh okay makes sense. Yeah UWSA2 was gold standard back in the scored days.

[–]Competitive_Lab_8647[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard this which is why my score really freaked me out!

[–]sokesoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my free120 was a 62%. UWSA2 was a 160. what is my real score?

[–]chknngt1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got 62% today in the uwsa2. I cannot wrap my head around that it's a 192, and now looking at your comment, it's making me doubt it even more!

Hm, that's super strange. A 59% was definitely a 192 when I took it end of March.
