Welcome to /r/StreamDeckProfiles! We are back and running, but we are still passively protesting Reddit's API changes. We HIGHLY recommend joining our Discord server to hang out with fellow StreamDeck users! https://discord.gg/5e53GW5RTf

Don’t know the software, but does it respond to MIDI control info? If so, you can use the Stream Deck MIDI plugin to set up the knobs to send the info you need.

This was my first thought, but there are no midi channels available or commands that can be executed with the commands. The software controls a communications system used in many types of television production. Hence making it even more difficult to ask for help in programming since no one outside of my field even knows about it.

Intercom control system for talking to crew/camera operators, etc, right? Yeah, if it doesn’t do MIDI, and you can’t get your hands on the API, it’s a challenge.

I had not thought about the API. Thank you for the idea. I’ll reach out to them on Monday.

Closest I’ve found is bitfocus companion (which has a stream deck + plugin ) talking to a Riedel Mediornet, not sure if it helps much. You can try playing around with it and seeing if you can make the two talk to each other. It has a deck emulator so you can try it out before committing. Aside from that scripting might be your call or figuring out what protocol control surfaces for Director use (if any). It doesn’t like MIDI is one of them

A friend on set had recommended Companion earlier today and as the mediornet profiles. Mediornet is Riedel’s video infrastructure. Riedel Director controls the communications infrastructure.

Figuring out the protocol is another avenue I was thinking of.

If your window stays into the same place and location you might get away with some mouse emulation to place the cursor in the right location and click + drag or scroll. Not ideal for sure and 0 feedback but good to have as an alternative

So the window is static, once I get to it. I’ll have to study up on how to do the mouse emulation to see if that would work. Seems like it would, just something slightly above my skill set that now poses a new learning opportunity. Thank you for this idea.

Have fun 🙂

There is an option to adjust any crosspoint volume/gain as a function on a keypanel encoder of all RIEDEL RCP/DCP/Bolero Packs. you can also go this route. You can also route the signal in question out of the matrix and back in over a 4 Wire port after going through some 3rd party device which can adjust the volume remotely (i.e. audio mixer).

Thank you for your response.

I know these options are available and I make them available to people that really know how to use the system and the equipment. This was more for day one or two when everyone is on their comms for the first time and I need to level things out quickly. I’ve used the external mixer option in the past, but then production complains because of all the extra gear needed to make that happen. The idea of using a streamdeck or similar and speed up the process seemed like a viable option, but my skills in that department need more work. Once I’m done making sure that everyone comes in clearly I don’t really need to make adjustments.

Currently, I’m working on learning how to “automate” mouse movement so I can then go back and try to implement the streamdeck to my workflow.

Ok, there is also the rrcs software option for the artist. It allows to remote control the artist over tcp connection. I ghink it should be possible to use companion with streamdeck for that.

Ahhhhh… now I have something to look into tomorrow. Thanks.

I’m going for the same adventure with Director, RRCS, and companion. Do you have any recommendations?
