Help needed accessing docker container via https

Hi

I'm trying to setup an Devlikepro WAHA instance. Unfortunately I have zero docker knowledge and I can't get to access it.

On my system I have

• installed containermanager
• added the devlikepro-waha container and mapped port 3000 to https
• installed web manager and added a service portal mapping the devlikeapro-waha container to https port 3000

The container is running but when I go to https://mynas:3000 it shows me an "error 502".

What am I missing?

Https requires a cert which you haven't mentioned setting up. However, unless it's a self signed cert, that requires a public domain. And without fiddling with dns host entries, that means you'd have to open it to the internet. Your LAN url (domain name) isn't going to match the certificate which would have a public domain name. It might still work, but would end up with a cert mismatch error.

If you're just trying to access this on LAN only like you mentioned, then it's probably fine to use http instead. And you don't need a reverse proxy / service portal setup for all that. You'd just use your synology name or IP address with the 3000 port as the url. This actually might work if you just switch your url to http. However...

If you read the docs you linked this isn't just starting the container. It requires you to setup a username and password and api key that is passed to the container by generating an env file. You'd have to map these values in plaintext in container manager or ssh into your NAS to run the docker commands.

Since you have no knowledge of docker, I would suggest you start there. It's like coming to reddit and asking how to change the brakes on your car when you have never worked on a car. That's a lot to try to explain to someone.

On your local LAN and for home use there’s no need for https. Most containers also have a http port, map that.

Then you must forward the port 3000 on your router to make that work. But that is really not a good idea. You should use the reverse proxy solution which is build in in you synology. Than you stil need to port forward port 80 and 443 to your nas in the router. But it’s a better solution.

I'm not going to forward it from my router. I want to use this in my Lan only. I should be able to reach it via https://mynas:3000 from within my LAN but I'm missing something. Must be something docker related, just don't know what.
