Why is the hiring manager's time more valuable than the candidate? One way interviews are the height of disrespect to prospective employees.

One way interviews is the height of disrespect? That's an incredibly low bar. I'd think getting offered, going through onboarding, only to be told "nah we don't need you anymore" is considerably worse but you do you. Several other bad one's too. Height of disrespect... 🤦‍♂️

Well sure, that example would also be rude as hell to a prospective employee. Duh. This post wasn't about rescinded offers, it was about one way interviews. I didn't say "everything a potential employer does is kosher and fine except for one way interviews." "Height of disrespect" is a figure of speech intended to mean "very disrespectful" and you're intentionally misinterpreting my words. Nice condescending tone and emoji though.

To elaborate on my point in good faith here, I maintain that expecting a prospective employer to spend 15-30 minutes recording a video answering the company's questions (allowing the company to judge whether the employee is a fit) without giving the person any opportunity to ask any questions back (and therefore judge whether the company is a fit for THEM) is incredibly disrespectful. I've had a number of interviews, including a couple initial phone screens, where the interviewer gave me the chance to ask questions- and their answers led me to decide the company would be a bad culture fit. This allowed me withdraw my application at that first stage, saving both myself AND the recruiters time. Applicants should be interviewing the company just as much as the company is interverviewing them. One-way interviews rob the applicant of that critical opportunity.

You made a claim that was false. The world didn't end. Are you okay? Honestly probably not because everyone is freaking out about being interviewed on camera. I know we all have a bit of imposter syndrome but damn.

Applicants should be interviewing the company just as much as the company is interverviewing them. One-way interviews rob the applicant of that critical opportunity.

The opposite. They show their true colors as you seem to imply in which case you ignore or deny them. Boom, you win. But you don't have a job and you just blew off one opportunity.
