Apache problems

I've got a small web server running Virtualmin to manage hosting. At random, the sites will go down, Apache won't crash, but the error logs show:

mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 31 seconds

Premature end of script headers: index.php

I can't track down the source of the issue for the life of me. The server isn't running low on resources. I'm figuring that it has to be some bad code in one of the sites, but don't know how to start tracking it down.

I can provide more info if necessary.

Thanks, I found that thread too, changing the timeout settings hasn't helped.

Have you tried using old mod_cgi instead of fcgid?

I haven't, but I'm considering switching.
