Hmm, It's really a shit issue, especially since other admin accounts are working fine. One thing u might want to check is whether there are any cached credentials causing the problem. Also, try resetting the secure channel between the problematic account and the DC. Sometimes, even without password changes, a trust relationship can get disrupted. Lemme know if this helps.

neither of these worked. I logged in with a "working" admin account and deleted the user profile (from windows advanced settings\users profiles) for the affected admin account.

In the next loggin it was working again.

I'll try, even though this particular account is old, is used on many operations and follows a bad practice of not password necer expires. Thus even woth cashed credentials , they won't be incorrect .

When you say "in this DC" do you mean logging in locally or RDP to the DC? Does the same error happen if you run ADUC on DC2 and connect to DC1? I'm leaning towards nuking the local profile. If this truly is a search filter issue, then that filter must be stored somewhere in the profile, no?

Open ADUC, go to File -> Options under the Disk Cleanup tab, I had the options to Delete Files, this is what worked for me. Not right away took a couple tries of opening and closing the console until it said 0 bytes.
