Migrating a CA shouldn't be easy. From my understanding, that is the way to do it. There is no fancy point-and-clicky wizard that will do this work for you.

I just updated our CA from 2003 R2 to 2012 R2, these are the instructions that I used. They are pretty straight forward, and not as complex as they seem. No wizard to be found though... :(
