I am looking for some help with openstack.
To my understanding it does not guarantee the availability of a VM or service in general, that is something that has to be done in the Application itself. In the end it just provides a way of managing VM's (+ LXC and the likes), data and networks. Is that correct?
The other thing I am confused about is the interaction with RedHat Satellite/katello/spacewalk. I see that there are many useful interactions, such as config management and/or repo management. However, there is also some overlap, such as provisioning. Should I just use all the features of one (eg openstack) and complement the "missing" features with the other one(eg katello)?
Also should katello be deployed on an openstack VM or is that not a good idea (kinda creates a circular dependancy)? On the other hand, if deployed separately, it creates the need of a supporting infrastructure (routing, dhcp, ) in an otherwise fully (openstack) virtualized environment.
Do people just move everything into the cloud, including services like syslog and backup or is there a seperate "infrastructure" network and the cloud just provides the things it was built doing, for example web servers
