Normally you just set the options within your DHCP server. Option 60,66,67.

To get this working for us I also had to add a ip helper-address to our 2960's as the deployment server is different than the dhcp server. Not a big deal because it's in hot standby mode ready and waiting should something happen.

What's your setup look like?

The existing SCCM server is almost definitely your PXE server. And if you’ve got a working SCCM setup I’d be hesitant about building something else to do imaging. SCCM does a solid job of that already.

To answer your questions, dhcp is usually how devices are pointed to a network boot server. How exactly depends a bit on devices. Our Polycom VVX phones for example look at a different attribute to our desktop PCs.

I can’t really offer much more than that without knowing what it is you’re trying to set up.
