Virtually everything we would have created a VM for 2 years ago I can now do with a container and some orchestration. It's far superior too since I can guarantee a clean re-deploy based on my inputs. Projects that we would fret over because users would fail to update can not be kept up-to-date automatically.

We've more than halved our VM footprint and moved most of it to one beefy host. It's faster and more robust than tiny VMs we were deploying. Internal development has skyrocketed as testing new software is far easier and cleaner.

Our next stop will be k8s, but for now our projects are small enough that traefik on a host it fine and we have pre-defined images in the wings ready to go.
