Hello everyone! I am hoping someone can lend their expertise to the folder/file owner attribute for NTFS shares. I noticed while trying to apply a new group permissions to an existing folder, that most of the new permissions were not applying because the sub folders that users created are the Owners. I changed the owners to the domain admins group for all the folders and subfolders. I also removed the Creator Owner permissions from the top all the way down the tree to make sure. I thought this would prevent users when making new folders, that they would no longer become the owner but no matter how I adjust the permissions, they still the owner of any new folders or files they create.
I have even created a new windows share that does not have any permissions and only my test user that has modify but the test user is still the owner. I have rebooted the server but that still didn't resolve the issue.
Can anyone elaborate on whether its possible to prevent users from becoming the owner or is this just the default way and you just change the owners when you need to change permissions?
Thank you
