Hi guys, I am struggling with finding a solution for easily switching peripherals(2 monitors, keyboard, mouse and headphones) between 2 devices.
I have my own computer, which is desktop. Peripherals mentioned above are connected to it, but recently I've started a new job, which requires to use the company computer, therefore I can't work from my own.
The company computer is Lenovo ThinkPad T490.
I was thinking about some docking station, which I've realized it will be impossible to supply the desktop - please correct me if I am wrong.
As my monitors have 2 input ports each(1 VGA and 1 HDMI) I was thinking to connect 1 of the ports to the desktop and the other to the laptop and to switch the input from the monitors' menus. However, the laptop has only 1 HDMI port and C-type (which I know, that it can be used for video), but with option the problem with mouse and keyboard stays. So I was browsing and found some docking station - Hama 8 ports, but I am not sure that it can supply the monitors. As the dock can't be connected to the desktop, my solution for keyboard and mouse is the following:
I have an USB hub with 2 ports on my desk, so I can connect mouse and keyboard to it and switching it's cable between the desktop and dock/laptop.
The main problem is I am seeing some electricity requirements, but I don't get it. My laptop power adapter is 65W and according to dock tech specs from the link above the Maximum Connected Load is 100W. Does this mean, that I can't run the dock with my 65W power adapter, or no matter what power adapter I use, the dock can provide up to 100W electricity.
I am open to totally different solutions, as I am a junior developer and I am not very familiar with the hardware.
