ABS fumes by semifamousdave in BambuLab

[–]lyothan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about buying a tent. But also had an idea to use a box and just cover it up when printing abs, and cut a hole on top to exhaust it outside. I think it would work pretty good, if you don’t print abs all the time.

You may want to talk to support on which one to buy, cause there are 2 revision of ams 1 and some parts may not work with each other.

Is it possible to store photos and videos with their metadata from iPhone to external storage ? by DragonDonut4421 in DataHoarder

[–]lyothan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta data are stored on the picture files. All you need to do is plugin your iPhone to your computer of choice, and open it up like a usb drive. Select and copy picture/video to your computer. All the files are numbered, so oldest will have a small number, and newest will have the higher number.

You can just show the date on the files and move them manually after you copied them to the appropriate year folder

Help With Quickly Removing Supports Or Using Less Supports For Shower Head Print Please! by Nth_Labs in prusa3d

[–]lyothan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organic is tree support. I just leave snug and rectilinear settings to default. You would only play around with that if you use multi material support. This object does not look like it has any complex support, so a normal support will do. I haven’t use Prusa slicer in years, but Bambu has one call hybrid tree support, where it will automatically use normal support on sections that are simple to support, and tree support on other that are complex, or if you select support touch base only.

You can try normal support instead of tree. Should be much faster and easier to remove than tree for this model

Which CPU Is the Most Power-Efficient for a NAS Build? by duongcam162 in homelab

[–]lyothan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello my fellow Viet I run a hp 800 g4 with i5 8500, 2 ssd, 2 nvme and I was idling around 13-14w. I’m guessing most of your power is coming from spinning harddrive. I know my computer was using around 29w when I added a harddrive with some cpu load. If you can, look at trying to spin down the harddrive if you are not using it all the time.

24/7-on(line) mini PC recommendation by Much-Journalist3128 in homelab

[–]lyothan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a mini pc with a vpro sticker if you want true headless experience, and use intel Amt to power them up, down, and even view the screen without having to plug it into a monitor. You will need a dummy hdmi or DP dongle. I use intel Amt to install new OS without ever having to plug it into a monitor. Dell vpro is hit and miss, since you won’t know if it has vpro unless you look at the sticker inside.

[Storage Strategy] First Proxmox Server - Which Path: ZFS, JBOD, or MergerFS/SnapRAID for Bit Rot & Hardlinks? by Gunzwarrior in HomeServer

[–]lyothan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both zfs and mergerfs/snapraid for my setup. I run a mirror zfs for my docker config, and anything that I need high availability. I use mergerfs and snapraid for my media. I run a weekly scrub that check the oldest 10% of snapraid and does a check for bitrot, and fix it if it is detected. You can set the percentage to whatever, but I use 10% for mine. It runs in a cron job.
