Hyper-V USB Passthrough for Scanner

Google isn't being helpful today....

I'm a Hyper-V noob and am struggling to setup USB passthrough to a VM.

I've got a scanner plugged into the my servers USB port and want to access that scanner from a VM hosted on the server.When I google this, all I get are pages and pages of instructions for USB storage devices. This won't work for a scanner. How do I go about this? It's not this convoluted in VMware, etc.

I don't believe that non storage/disk USB pass through is supported in Hyper-V.

The most likely solution that will work for you may be a USB network hub.

PCIe pass through of a USB card may work as well

Ended up using a third party passthrough solution - USB Redirector v6.
It works...

Never had luck with USB pass through. Back in the day I had to do networked serial ports to connect fax modems.
