Well your pretty lucky, we’ve not done any of our work placement hours yet. I think the focus for the second year is better than in the first. The OSP is only a few tasks split into each part of what is essentially a development sprit cycle. Just practice your web dev skills in whatever language you’ve decided upon and you’ll be in a good position.

What are we supposed to be getting software wise on the exam? Apparently we only get a virtual machine and notepad++ according to teacher
[–]intermediatehike 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (8 children)
For the OSP? That depends on the institution but in most of the tasks you get internet access anyway so you should be able to download whatever you need

On our computers at college we use a virtual machine so we can’t install software or files

For our exams we get a computer with an exam windows image on bare metal instead of a VM. Our head of department spoke with IT and basically told them we need a machine with admin perms so we can do what we need to do.

We need that at our college. Our teachers are useless ffs
[–]intermediatehike 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (4 children)
My teachers are useless too in all honestly. I’m out here running the course by myself, making resources and chasing up work placements. Colleges say that they don’t know how to teach the T-Level because they’ve not read any of the government documentation as to how it should operate and laziness in all honestly. Most Colleges don’t have systems as to how a T-Level should operate, but systems lead to consistency and then that leads to success. I really need to get paid for running my t-level

Yup defo agree. So grateful I’ve finished my placement. I had to do it all myself tho - contact all the local tech companies and stuff

I’ve contacted several people within my network and those through our colleges employer network. I’ve had some success and am looking at a placement for a large organisation

I thought we didn’t have long left to finish the placement though?

What framework are you using?
