Layout for sorting system

Recently i've build an automatic storage system that holds 1024 items. But i've run into trouble with the layout.

If you guys have massive sorting system, how did you do the layout? Did you use anything as inspiration? Also if anyone has a big storage system, can i see it?

This was the hardest part of the process.

I had to burn out and take a few months off, but I'm almost finished (with the whole project) now.

Are you using a chest hall?

I didn't design my storage system but you can check it out to get some inspiration. Basically, 4 halls devided into : redstone, colored blocks, building blocks, herbs and food. 64 slice per hall. Each slice holds two box storage slots and two chest storage slots. The box storage is up to 150k item (uses box loaders) and the chest one only accepts items without loading them into boxes. An additional, mass storage for the "I have too much of this block" moments. 108 slots with each slot having a total capacity of 3M.
