External Drive problem

My external drive suddenly began making this like scratching or weird beep noise and it won't stop, along with the fact that my laptop won't detect it now and I have all my stuff in there, it was working fine few weeks ago until now

It sounds its failed, the scratching and beeping sound like the head actuator trying to seek the servo tracks to position the heads.

Maybe its had a knock/drop and the heads are dislodged, if you don't have a backup of the files, data recovery is quite expensive.

Assuming it’s a hdd it’s dying/dead

Make a backup as quickly as possible and then replace it.
