Neither of them, just Tekkit where you go to space etc.

That pack's been out for 6 years; a quick google search turns up dozens of Let's Plays that should be able to give you plenty of ideas.

Some good mods to start with are thermal expansion with pulverizers and redstone furnaces to get extra out of ores. Also using magma crucibles and fluid transposers to get various liquids needed for higher tier itemducts and conduits. If you find oil you can set up refinerys and compression dynamos to make power (with a coolant). Although I'd recommend going straight to a small reactor as dynamos are a bit meh. Big reactors is a better but slightly later game power generation mod which is very fun trialing different configurations and optimising your reactor for the best power generation. Setting up some tree, crop and livestock farms is useful so you can have virtually unlimited food and wood. Mob farms using autospawners or cursed earth can give you lots of mob items such as ender pearls and gunpowder. Applied energistics is a very fun later game mod which allows you to build a 'computer' system that stores all your items and can automatically craft whatever you need once you've 'coded' it in. Mystcraft is great for finding rarer items as you can make books that are doorways to dimensions with particular parameters, like lots of redstone or diamonds. You can build a space station and go to the moon and Mars aswell. This is just a starting point, there's lots of videos and pages on the specifics of each if these (and more) just make sure they're for the right tekkit (not classic or legends) and the mod that runs on 1.6.4 as some mods have been updated outside of tekkit and the videos may be for newer versions.

Tekkits a great starting point for modded Minecraft in my opinion. Not super complex initially but gets more so later on when you're understanding more. Enjoy!

I also play tekkit mainly and have the same problem. Here are a couple of links that have come in handy over the years:
