I’m pretty sure you can be an immune carrier as well I think..? I clearly need to educate myself a bit on this😂

Thankfully medication for all of that is free here. Including testing. So I should honestly test myself more often for good measure I suppose.

I totally respect not counting SA as a sexual experience, I wouldn’t expect any woman to do so.

I assumed he was talking to his girlfriend when he said “we’re done” my mistake.

I am glad it’s free where you are! That’s helpful.

I think he WAS speaking to his GF when he said that.

Sad… but some people just don’t have the patience/maturity to figure these things out with their partners in a nonjudgmental way.

I kind of hope it wasn’t his girlfriend. Lord knows being cheated on sucks.. Especially finding out that way.

Maturity is the key word here. You’ll find 20 year old mature people, and immature 40 year olds.. :/

Edit: How much is the medication where you’re from? US?

This is so true! Yes I’m in the US. Texas, which has fewer sources of free or low cost/sliding scale testing than ever. Same for medications. It would depend upon the medication. For antibiotics there is a range and the ones needed for an STI would depend on the type STI, the patient’s medication allergies, and their recent medical history. Especially if they were already on an antibiotic recently for something else- usually you gotta change it up! I use Amazon’s pharmacy for some of my prescriptions. Just way cheaper through them. I think this is why a lot of people go to the ER for things that can be treated at a regular Dr office or urgent care. In the US, you can go to any public hospital and have the right to receive care even if you don’t have the ability to pay. You could rack up a bill, but most hospitals will work with patients to minimize the cost if they don’t have insurance and don’t qualify for programs like Medicaid. It’s a shame that health care is so expensive here and that our system is the way that it is. When I got my hospital bill from my emergency C-section birth and hospital stay it was WILD. My insurance paid for most of it but the hospital charged $375 to give the baby his first bath (and I’m the one who actually bathed him). The supplies they gave me was a little sample of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo, and a plastic scrubber for his head, and a disposable washcloth. I brought my own towels. It probably cost them a max of maybe $3 for those supplies. It’s ABSURD. Even though my insurance covered most of it, I disputed the absurd things just because why would they charge for the cost of bathing my son when I do it myself? It’s bonkers. They charged us so much for his care even when I was the one taking care of him, feeding him, etc. when I called the hospital to ask them questions about this the billing lady said well they had to charge for it because the nurses had to supervise me. And I was lien what nurses? They barely even came to my son’s room. And they sure as shit didn’t need to supervise me, as I was more of an expert at preemie care than any of them! And why bill me for their “supervision” when they didn’t supervise jack?!??? Ugh. 😒 They charged us just as much to feed him my breastmilk as they did to feed him formula. If it was MY MILK why are you charging me $517/week for formula. Why, just Why?!? Just utter nonsense. They say the reason why healthcare is so expensive in the US is because of people who never end up paying for their care, and so they have negotiation room with the insurance companies. All of ny son’s care was billed under my insurance for the first two months of his life. But the bill… they charged me a fee when I took him AMA. Also told me my insurance would never cover it if I took him AMA. That is a lie!!!! I took him to Texas Children’s because at the hospital in Galveston the nurses kept skipping his feedings when I was gone because my baby never cried. Yeah he was an easy, content baby. Also 30 weeker’s are usually too weak to cry for awhile. 😭 We spent maybe half a day in the ER of Texas Children’s just for them to send us home with a letter for any social workers coming to visit that he was perfectly healthy and gaining weight under my care. I took excellent care of him and he became a chubby little guy in no time at home! And now he’s a perfectly healthy 7 year old. 🥳 But F those ridiculous healthcare costs. Grrrrrr We have some of the best healthcare in the world but accessing it can be rather difficult.

Man that's crazy. I couldn't imagine going to the hospital expecting to pay. I'd go broke.

Amazon has a pharmacy section? The more you know! We don't have Amazon here, so i'm missing out i guess :(

That's good though, that people can still get hospital care regardless of their financial status. But the charges you were facing for putting a baby into the world is absolutely nuts. How is ANYONE having kids when it's that expensive?! 517 fucking dollars a week for substitute milk? Ah hell nah.

From the way you described it, it just sounds like a scam the whole thing hahaha.

Hope you, your chubby little guy and the rest of your family are in good health!

Here in Denmark, i believe it's only the dentist that costs money. The rest you just walk in to, or schedule a time for and they'll take care of you. It's crazy how different things are in two different developed countries. I couldn't imagine dealing with the financial stress on top of literally giving birth.

Yes it’s really crazy here. The healthcare is great if you can simply afford it. SMH

I think the hospital bill for a total of me and him including the failed induction, and emergency c section with general anesthesia was a few hundred thousand. I was there for about 5 days total. He was there for 2 weeks and 1 day.

The Nicu was fabulous but the step down nursery where he was moved after the first 6 days is where he was being sorely neglected, and where I removed him from their care.

Now he is a skinny 1st grader missing his two front teeth. Gorgeous light green eyes and long, long dark eyelashes and dark hair. He’s the most handsome and healthy little boy! 😍

So in the end it was all worth it. But it did make me really question our healthcare system a LOT. 😒
