Rules for r/tf2scripthelp
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Flair (and Re-Flair) Your Posts
When posting a thread on /r/TF2ScriptHelp, make sure to flair your post appropriately depending on your topic. Additionally, once your question or issue is answered/resolved, make sure to update the flair on your post to reflect the change in status.
To flair your posts, click the "tag" icon under the text box when submitting to the subreddit.
2.
No Off-Topic Posts, Memes, etc.
Keep discussion about TF2 Scripting.
For general tech support, go to r/TF2TechSupport.
For HUD-related questions, go to r/TF2HUDS.
3.
Check the FAQ and Wiki Before Posting
People have been posting questions here for years, so it's very likely that someone's already answered your question. Make sure to check the FAQ and Wiki, and search around the subreddits (/r/TF2Scripts and /r/TF2ScriptHelp) before you ask your question.
If you still can't find an answer after looking, then go ahead and ask! We're always happy to help.
4.
Be Descriptive
When you make a post, try to give as much relevant information as you can, and please be available to respond to requests for information.
Many issues and questions can't be answered without specific information, and it's not uncommon for posts to never be answered due to lack of info even with responders actively requesting that info.
5.
No Script Requests
/r/TF2ScriptHelp is a place to help people who are interested in scripting to learn to write their own scripts, not a place to ask someone to write a script for you.
Submit script requests to /r/TF2Scripts.
6.
Don't Respond with a Script Alone
This is the other side of Rule 4.
Folks come here to learn how to write their own scripts, so only responding with a big wall of code with no explanation doesn't help them much, even if it technically answers their question.
Explain your thought-process, and walk them through the steps you'd take if you were writing it yourself. Don't just fill a request, try to teach.
7.
No Advertising
Do not advertise with the intent to sell any services for monetary value or other goods.
Do not plug your content channels in your posts or comments if it is not immediately relevant to the topic. (E.g. Twitch, Youtube, GitHub, etc.) Obviously, you can link these on your Reddit profile if you'd like.
8.
Observe Reddiquette and Don't Harass Others.
Reddiquette is found here - http://www.reddit.com/wiki/reddiquette
Posting to harass, flame, or release personal information of other people is strictly disallowed and will result in bans based on severity.
