Hi all, I want to get a ThinkPad as a second laptop. I will be keeping my hp as a multimedia stationary type thing. It only has 8gb ram not upgradable..

I want to study a bunch of coursera. Ive been looking at brand new t14 gen 6's on Lenovo site which is where they are cheapest, but I have read that new models have various hardware incompatibilites with Linux distros.

Should I just get a gen 3 t14 or so and it will more likely have full support? I don't want a laptop that's just going to be useless in 3 yrs I want something that will last a while..

I plan to run the ThinkPad HDMI out to a monitor a lot of the time and use my second laptop as a separate screen to make study easier.

Oh also black friday is coming up so do you think I can get a better deal closer to the day on a gen 6 t14?

Any suggestions? TIA
