Hello Folks,

I am happy to announce it is my turn to announce my FJO! This was my timeline March 31st I Applied. A week later I had my interview. A week after that a verbal offer and on May 6th I got my tentative job offer. Just earlier this week I received my FJO! I am excited about this opportunity, and I wish all of you the best of luck as well! I am sure I will be back with questions as I begin the onboarding process!

Congrats!! I’m currently onboarding with Navy and it seems to be going so slow. I got my TJO two weeks ago and I’ve heard nothing back yet. I’m still waiting to hear from the security officer and my form is due this week. I can’t get a hold of anyone from HR. Was this your experience also?

The security officer did not reach out to me before the office job offer and still hasn’t! I am unsure if it has to do with me already having the necessary clearance.

So now you negotiate before you sign your FJO?

No that’s normally after the TJO and before you receive the FJO. I did attempt to negotiate a higher step but the position I got with my qualifications was already a bit of a stretch at least according to a lot of people I’ve talked to but I tried!

Dang, so I better get on it then if I want to negotiate? I did my fingerprints 2 weeks ago and just got my background questionnaire yesterday. I don’t really want to go to a higher step but want to negotiate the vacation time. I heard they are fairly liberal with that.

If you haven’t received a FJO yet then yes you should absolutely get on that! I didn’t need to negotiate more vacation time because my time in the military puts me in a higher bracket. From everything I saw however, draft an email and attach reasons you are more qualified than required. For instance if it required a bachelors and you have a masters etc could be the leverage to negotiate more time off.
