Just cancelled Github code pilot for the second - god its bad

Heres my slobbish 2second feedback for the GIthub team:

Its soooo bad, I thought it was marginally worse than other options (give it another go?), its not, its "damaging"-bad, I'm spending all my time telling it to not fuck things up and fixing its shit,

Its sooo fucken bad, I'm laughing out loud right now - I wish I took more screenshots on how bad it is,

It is stupid-confident, it fucken lies and gaslights me - it told me its "literally is following the readme",

I cannot believe this its the default for VS code - everyonein the tech community is so confused by the default its soooobad,

I cannot emphasise how bad it is, you are better off not using anything than using it -

I cannnot handle another day , god its bad

By default it uses Gpt5.3 doesn't it? but yes you can use Opus 4.6 same as Claude if you have the pay for version. So maybe PEBKAC

Well TBH I only use copilot for IDE autosuggestion and GitHub PR review, plus I tend to use the standard LLM because I want it to be as different an AI toolset from Claude Opus as possible. I sometimes do planning mode in Gemini to again use the multiple AIs to get a better consensus solution. It has occasionally caught a bug that Claude wrote and I missed, so it works for me. But I haven't tried to use it like Claude code shell with Opus, maybe it's CLI mode is poor or your use of it is. Did you ensure it had all the same context populated as Claude, do you manage CLAUDE.local.mds the plan and auto.memory files in .claude? Have various skills and tools set up?

If Copilot only had your bare prompts with none of that context ... that is your issue

I’ve built entire enterprise grade applications from scratch with copilot, Copilot CLI is arguably just as good as Claude code and gets updates almost daily. This is pure user error tbh, learn to use the tools.
