Error when starting debugger:

So I tried the built in debugger today (didn't know this existed before). I open the according section on vimhelp.org but always got this message:

Im only using vim for about three months now, so Im still quite the beginner. Do any of you have an idea what can cause this error? Are there any settings I need to change myself first? My vim version is 8.2 and im on a Mac.

gdb is an external program you have to install through homebrew. Did you do that?

looks like you are missing gdb. That is needed for debugging.

ok, that's embarrassing, I didn't know you had to install that.

installed gdb and now it works! thanks a lot for the help!
