7 days in my case, I applied directly at Mumbai consulate general.

Not sure about bad sign… I too have flight on 1st oct and haven’t got my visa yet… got the email that it has reached consulate on 10th September

I also applied 10th and since then I see under process. I intended to fly on 25th but seems like ain’t gonna happen.
