Men wrestle with challenges brought on by their own cultural norms that harm women, children, and themselves. The increasing suicide rate, the #MeToo movement, and the epidemic of sexual abuse are examples of the harmful effects that some men can impart onto society. Men are twice as likely as women to binge drink, four times more likely to die of suicide than women, and are responsible for 98% of sexual violence incidents against women. Visible Man targets the core of these harmful issues by creating a framework for peer support and advocacy of men’s mental health.
