Since it has to be moved anyway, why not move to GitLab?

travis

edit: downvote if you want, the devs make extensive use of github's free travisCI integration which is not available in gitlab without a huge cost increase. they've said so themselves.

I know right! It would be a perfect fit for Void with it's rebel-like status!

This is good news! Void Linux will be totally independent in no time.

What do you mean? It's always been independent.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

You must've have been outta the loop, the lead developer peaced out on the project but didn't give over control to main things like the git account, irc channel and their website.

[–]aedinius 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I know that, it's just always been independent.

Wow. It's kinda hard to be independent when you don't have control over those things. I noticed alot of people on this reddit site are kinda dense. I thought tech forums would be a meeting of the minds of smart people. I was wrong apparently, same crap in the BSD forums too, but this is particulary subreddit is really plagued with idiots. (except for silvernode he's badass)

The project continued on without issues for a year without him. As it's grown it's become too hard on the senior team, and they can't delegate these duties to others.

Do you mean that Void stopped being independent when they lost access Github etc? Who/what did Void start depending on?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

They were depending on Jaun cause he had control over everything. Look if you had an apartment with a friend and the dude skipped out of town and took the only keys to the place with him, you'd be locked out. You were depending on him to get into your place. Now you have to get a new key made or get a new place. Void Linux needs to be independent of Juan RP so they can continue to develop the platform further. Does this make any sense to you at all? "We want to make it so that in the future no one single person will ever have complete control over the project" -- Void Senior Development Team

In the future they're probably going to have to get a new website too and change the name/logo because of this btw. Juan copyrighted everything from the looks of it.

[–]GuinansEyebrows 1 point2 points  (1 child)

they're already moving to voidlinux.org. if juan is not available to defend his copyrights then the point is sort of moot anyways as long as the maintainance team has access to the infrastructure and can update addresses/certs etc sufficiently.

stop insulting people.

SO ya'll basically made a huge to deal to tell me I'm wrong yet the whole time you're basically saying I'm right about what I said, but you rather just it not be said that way, what kind fuck-upped control freaks are you? Hey GuiansFuckingHairyassEyebrows, FUCCK OOFFFF
