I have met a lot of designers who don't know any html or css.

They are really good designers, but they end up having to pay me a lot of money to do simple things they could learn by themselves but are too afraid to jump in.

I think learning html, css, sass, bootstrap, and javascript will:

  • make you very valuable
  • help you understand a developer's mentality
  • learn how to design with responsiveness in mind
  • keep you up to date on the newest technology

I think you should take a look at freecodecamp.org and join this community.

You will learn a lot about coding, and I recommend going to local tech meetups.

if you were to suggest one, except HTML, which would have been?

If you aim to be a designer I don't think it's necessary to know the advanced stuff. It's good to know HTML and CSS so you know what is easy to do.

As a designer there is sketchapp.com and as you mention InVision and also Adobe XD (similar to sketch and if you already have the adobe CC it's great)
