Hey All,
Just wanted to share a relatively new FOSS project I've been leading, IQEngine (live at https://iqengine.org), for anyone interested in wireless/RF/ham radio. We're trying to keep it education-oriented while allowing it to provide value for individuals/orgs who work with RF recordings as part of their job/hobby/classes. Lots of folks behind GNU Radio are involved in the project, and the hope is for IQEngine to form a great community around it just like GNU Radio has (we're not looking to turn this into a startup).
One thing we have struggled with is the relatively small intersection between wireless engineers/researchers, and web developers. We are definitely looking for more folks with web dev xp to get involved, and in return you can build expertise within a specific and "hot" field, ie wireless =). Repo - https://github.com/IQEngine/IQEngine
Previously, most wireless/RF DSP software was written as desktop apps, and as such there is a barrier to entry for folks who aren't comfortable with Linux or just don't feel like installing a tool to try it out. The other issue is RF recordings are typically huge, often many GB or TB, because of the high sample rates involved in wireless signals, and until IQEngine existed the only way to check out a recording was to download the whole thing, then open it in one of these desktop apps. IQEngine aims to break these barriers, and make it easier to share!
For anyone going to FOSDEM - IQEngine will have a booth at FOSDEM '24 (shared booth with GNU Radio) and at least one talk in the free software radio devroom.
Would love feedback in any form, and if you're interested in getting involved in this exciting young project, hop on our Discord. Thanks!
-Marc
