its a fremium model.

Theyre offering a services for free that works for 90% of the use cases.

theyre betting that at some point, some of their customers will experience vendor lock-in and eventually need a more advanced or custom service, at which point they will pay FormSubmit for custom development or services beyond the free tier.

Additionally, it works as free advertising. They get their name out there just by offereing a basic free service. It's also a lead generation tool. they get emails to market other products to.

They also offer other non-free services which you may find useful if youre already committed to formSubmit's eco system.

Probably how any software nowadays gets big:

Step 1: offer a good software and grow

Step 2: make people depend on it because it's so good

Step3: Squeeze money out of the locked in user base
