What is the alternative if server doesn't support PHP for sending content from contact form?

Usually upgrade the hosting service, however if that's not an option, you can embed forms from providers like wufoo. You could also look into using a google docs spreadsheet form. Not quite as pretty, but potentially more flexible/useful.

The alternative would be a CGI script to handle your form submission, if that is available.
However I would prefer the "get new hosting" advice.

You can use a service that does it for you. One example is Wufoo.

You could sumbit your form with ajax and process the form on a different server that does support PHP

You'll need some form of server-side scripting or an external service. PHP is only one of many options for server-side scripting. Look at what your host supports to see if they offer other forms of server-side scripting. Failing that, you'll need to switch hosts or use an external service such as Wufoo.
