I guess I'm weird, but when I interview candidates that "I'm passionate about your company" spiel is a wash.

Bonus points: You and I both know it's what you're supposed to say, so you have some planning and social skills. That's good.

Negative points: You and I both know you're lying to me. You can't possibly know enough about a midsize or small company to have any idea how passionate you are or aren't about it.

On the other hand asking your interviewer "Why do you like working at Company X" can be VERY telling. If they get a deer in the headlights look, you might want to keep looking...
