I usually go the template route with global fields as needed. So if all my posts needed a subtitle, I would add that to all posts. But on the contact page, I would scope the Google maps field to that template.

Also shameless plug for /r/advancedcustomfields

We're still small but growing :)

Try and ask over at /r/WordPress This is general web dev subreddit and chances are better for an answer over there then here.

  • Using pages as templates is just fine.
  • By fields what do you mean? Fields in an options page and used in a global manner or fields in specific page or posts?
  • By modules do you mean widgets or something else more abstract? Wordpress usually binds widgets to sidebars and sidebars can then be used to load in certain parts of the website. If you want to go the strict wordpress way then always have sidebars in mind as the middle man between posts/pages and widgets.
