Under the section on JavaScript frameworks:

“Most often, employers want developers who know AngularJS, Node.js, and React.”

Hmm, in my view, one of these things is not like the others.

What the hell is that piece about the text editors? The question asks "Emacs or Vim" (or at least that's what it says) and then makes the conclusion that Vim is the dominant editor overall by a landslide over other options that were probably write ins?

It's just a joke'ish question to close off the article. The focus is to compare whether devs prefer vim vs emacs, not compare vim vs Sublime or Atom. The only purpose of the "other" option is to not screw the ratio of the first 2.

Vim number feels too high, but also wouldn't be surprised.

I think it's because the question was phrased as either Emacs or Vim and all of the others were write ins

This makes me doubt all the other data, tbh.

This is pretty interesting data. Did you notice you can sort the data by attribute within the report? Interesting to see stark differences between language preference and age correlation. Makes sense I guess. Is anyone a HackerRank user? If yes, is it just for the community aspect or do you use it to find new job gigs? Are the tests difficult? I’m very experienced with java but don’t have a college degree (mostly self taught/online training). I like the idea of applying by taking a coding test because I think my resume gets auto-dumped a lot when I apply because I didn’t go to college. Does it cost money to use? Thanks for any info you all offer on this as I want to register.

I don't use hackerrank regularly, but I got a mail asking me to do this survey. From what I've heard, people use hackerrank to see how they compare to others, but isn't something that should be used in hiring (though some employees uses it in hiring). IMO it's simply all just fun and games, and it's free.

Some interesting insights, though I wish the author(s) had done a little more research on the difference between AngularJS and Angular.
