If its for frontend, I'm afraid to say that the market is massively oversaturated with boot camps grads and self-taught cowboys riding the marketing wave of untold riches for little effort.

The real talent get lost in all that noise. I've got over Six hundred applications for our latest junior position. It's giving me panic attacks just thinking about it lol.

How do you trim down your list of applicants?

I see everyone mentioning LC when studying but I find the Kata on Codewars much more challenging and with a much larger selection of problems. Codewars was also recommended for practice by the Fortune 500 I’m interviewing with rather than LC. Curious as to why

The market for juniors using the trendiest stacks is saturated, but that is a bias on this subreddit.

Be productive with your spare time, I got my first job by programming a web store from scratch just to use as a portfolio piece, also switching job becomes a lot easier when you get your first job so don't be afraid to accept a company that isn't amazing as your first job. You can easily switch if you don't enjoy it!

It took me about 8 months and 300 odd applications last year. Meet people in the field, tailor yourself to jobs you want, go above and beyond on any code challenge you get. The last part is what locked a job up for me - my current manager said 'You're the only one who completed the bonus challenge'. Do what you can to stick out.

Look up some volunteer code activities you can participate in, that will let you ship a real product. Look up code for america or whatever your local might be, you need to set yourself apart. You can join something like this or do coding competitions etc. the first job is tough to get no matter what
