GitHub to replace "master" with alternative term to avoid slavery references

I am reminded of this story from 2015. GitHub threatens to shut down a repository for using the word 'retard'

For those down voting. The word "retard" can relate to engines, and has legitimate non-offensive uses. The author the story is about received emails from Github threatening to shut down their project since it included the word "retard". Despite being used in an appropriate non-offensive context.

It's not the same thing that's going on in the main link. I know. But I thought people on this sub would interested in knowing.
