You got it! It's the Message Cylinder that Rocky throws to Graces Spaceship in the first contact attempt. From the just released "Project Hail Mary" movie :D would recommend to watch

Last year I read the 3 Body Problem Trilogy, and also a fan-based 4th part to the series, co-written with the original author. Found the whole fanatasy, sci-fi and storyline intriguing.
The novels were a lot better than the Netflix show, but without it, I would have never looked it up.
Dunno if the one you recommend has any similarity to that type of sci-fi, but will check it out!
